Annual Dinner

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:18 pm

Dear Friendly,

I want to thank the gentlemen who have reserved places for our annual dinner dance that will take place next Saturday, March 10th, at Brooklyn Borough Hall. If you have not sent your response to our cherubic money clip, now is the time. Don’t wait.

Those of us who are planning and coordinating this event always presume that everyone is behaving in the same mode; counting the days until the first sound of that loud bag pipe and splash of the first pour of Jamesons. Apparently, many of you are able to contain your- selves and delay gratification but now is the time for you to let go and write out the check and be counted in the numbers that will be THERE on the tenth. Our “green book” always reminds us of our raison d’etre, “to celebrate the feast day of our patron, Padraic.

In days of old, the event was celebrated in the K of C Hall on PPW and Union Street. It was moved to the Plaza Hotel where it remained until the early 90s. In recent years our membership has substantially grown, our celebration has evolved to become the gala event that people enjoyed at the old K of C and at The Plaza. It has always been an evening of good taste, style and elegance. As historian, I recall the days when members were obligated to reserve four places at the dinner. Today we only ask you to reserve two spots, and are appreciative to those who invite more guests.

If you haven’t done so, send your check to Tom today, or call him and bring your check on Wednesday, to our meeting. Once we finalize these dinner plans, we can begin finalizing plans to send our historian to the motherland.

Sincerely,

R2
